Taylor’s Traditional Fish and Chips was formed by Darren and Tracy Taylor in January 2004, we come with a long history of business in the food trade starting in Penygraig in 1988 with the popular Taylormade Bakery which is now the site of the the multiple award winning fish and chip shop.
We left Penygraig for a few years for business interests in Bridgend running the popular pub restaurant The Red Dragon in Litchard, but was drawn back to Penygraig to refurbish the old bakery and turn it into Taylor’s Fish and Chips, and the aim was to always use and sell the best quality product. Within six months of opening we won the Mid Glamorgan and South West Fish and Chip Shop of the Year and went on to be runners up in the welsh final.

The next year we came runners up again in the Welsh Fish and Chip Shop of the Year and in 2007/2008 won the Welsh Fish and Chip Shop of the Year and was placed in the top ten in Great Britain. We then retired from top level competition due to Tracy taking 2 years off for a leg operation, that is when our son Mitchell got involved in the business as a young boy leaving school and we went on to win minor competitions regularly such as the South Wales Echo Fish and Chip Shop of the Year and the new award of the best 50 fish and chip shops in Great Britain. More recently our daughter Carly joined our team and works part time at the shop; Mitchell is now a major part of the business and is doing well in a management role getting ready to take over the reins when we retire. So you could say we are a real family business as you will always find one or two of us there.
We have recently undergone a major refit including new frontage, new menu screens and a custom built cooking range to keep up with the demand for our Fish and Chips.
